# Third-party notices and source credits

The split license in [LICENSE](LICENSE) covers only the author's applicable original rights. File extensions and directory locations do not override source ownership. [ASSET-LICENSE-MAP.csv](ASSET-LICENSE-MAP.csv) maps included asset files to these categories. Preserve source notices when redistributing mixed or adapted assets.

## NASA imagery, models, archives and identifiers

NASA provides source models, cabin and mission photographs, and historical references used here. Its [Images and Media Usage Guidelines](https://www.nasa.gov/nasa-brand-center/images-and-media/) explain that NASA-produced media generally is not subject to U.S. copyright, while third-party works hosted by NASA may remain protected. Credit the source and check individual records. This is not a blanket permission for every NASA-hosted file.

NASA logos, identifiers and mission insignia are not relicensed by this project. Brand restrictions, rights in identifiable people, and NASA's guidance concerning AI-generated imagery may apply separately. A disclaimer cannot waive them. This independent, AI-assisted reconstruction has not been reviewed, endorsed or certified by NASA. Source attribution does not make reconstructed details NASA-authored or NASA-approved.

The copy shipped here is that original downscaled to 191×192 (SHA-256 `9243fff3b40e8b162e1c0f0095f721168afdfb03633180202e44b00e4c2e88ec`) for the 64px page header; the unmodified full-resolution file remains at the Commons link above. Public domain covers copyright only: use of NASA logos, insignia and emblems is separately restricted per 14 CFR 1221, and official insignia are restricted in many countries independently of copyright status. The emblem stays excluded from this project's grants — credit NASA / STS-26, and do not attribute its design to Dan or assume a new grant over the artwork or emblems.

The user supplied the original GLB and license information. The original is retained in `tools/references/sketchfab-sca-original.glb`. The adaptation is `dist/assets/nasa905-carrier.glb`; the imported/adapted Blender scenes are included under `authoring/`.

Modifications: removed bundled undersized orbiter and primitive supports; normalized scale and axes; added auxiliary fins and replacement mounting supports; revised central-tail finishes and period-style NASA/registration markings. The viewer combines this aircraft with separate Discovery and ferry-cover assets. See `tools/references/SKETCHFAB-SCA-LICENSE.md`.

Preserve the artist credit, source, license link and modification notice. No endorsement by the artist is implied. Dan's project licenses do not replace the artist's license or convey rights in separate third-party marks.

## Poly Haven fabric — CC0

`dist/assets/cabin/fabric-weave-normal.jpg` and `fabric-weave-roughness.jpg` derive from **Fabric Pattern 07** by **Rob Tuytel / Poly Haven**.

Generic fabric material reference, not a scan of shuttle upholstery. These source texture rights remain CC0, not Dan's CC BY 4.0 grant.

## Bundled software

- **Three.js 0.180.0 and included addons**: MIT, original authors as credited in `dist/vendor/THREE-LICENSE.txt`. Includes renderer, core, GLTFLoader, DRACOLoader, OrbitControls and BufferGeometryUtils. The loader's MIT license is distinct from the Draco codec below.
- **Google Draco decoder files** in `dist/vendor/draco/`: upstream Apache-2.0 and the additional upstream notices included in [LICENSE](dist/vendor/draco/LICENSE); retain [AUTHORS](dist/vendor/draco/AUTHORS). Upstream: https://github.com/google/draco. Decoder files are carried forward unchanged from the working site.
- **Typography**: DM Sans and Barlow Condensed are requested from Google Fonts by stylesheet; font binaries are not bundled. Source projects: https://github.com/googlefonts/dm-fonts and https://github.com/jpt/barlow. Check and preserve their font licenses if later self-hosting them.

## Owner-supplied photograph and original contributions

`dist/assets/history/dan-at-ksc.jpg` is the owner's supplied photograph of Dan at Kennedy Space Center. The project content grant covers only rights the owner holds; it supplies no rights in third-party marks or other persons' rights. No independent photographer credit was supplied.

Original prose, procedural artwork and model/texture additions follow the split license to the extent applicable rights exist. Mixed GLBs and Blender scenes retain the source rights described above. AI assistance does not establish ownership of underlying source material.

CC BY 4.0 legal text was obtained from [SPDX's license-text repository](https://github.com/spdx/license-list-data/blob/main/text/CC-BY-4.0.txt); the authoritative license is https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/legalcode.
